Q: Within Morrison Utility Services, what contract do you work for and what is your role?
A: I work on the Yorkshire water contract for Morrison Utility Services. After my first year of the Apprenticeship, I was paired up with another Apprentice who worked on the 18-week fast track course. I now work on new supplies as well as leakage work.
Q: How long have you been with us and what did you do before joining us?
A: I have been with Morrison Utility Services for over a year. Before this I was a self-employed scaffolder.
Q: What attracted you to this role in the first place?
A: I was looking for a new career and was interested in engineering. The main thing that attracted me to this role was the water side of engineering. The role looked promising with good prospects. It is a job for life, everyones always going to need water!
Q: How would you rate the Training and Development you receive?
A: The training we receive is great. We attend college, which provides very in-depth learning, and there are plenty of progress reviews to see how we are developing and if we need help in certain areas. Also, the support from my work colleagues has been great! They’ve been more than happy to teach me everything they know.
Q: Do you have plans to grow with us, if so where do you see yourself after your apprenticeship?
A: After my Apprenticeship is complete, I’m hoping to progress into a Team Leader role.
Q: What would you tell people who want to work in this industry?
A: It’s a fun job to do and every day is different! You would have to be physically fit as it’s quite a manual job.
Q: Would you recommend working for us?
A: 100%! Morrison Utility Services is a huge company and there’s plenty of opportunity to grow here.
