Delivering what we promise

GRADUATERyan Stafford Graduate

Q. What part of the company do you work for and what is your role?

A. I work for Morrison Utility Services and I began here as a graduate. I have recently become a Project Delivery Manager based in Peterborough.

Q. How long have you been with us and what did you do before joining us?

A. I’ve been with Morrison Utility Services for about 3 years now and when I joined I had spent a year working in different industries in different roles, trying to find the right path for me after graduation. In that year I worked in recruitment and Financial Services, these roles helped me figure out what I wanted from my career.

Q. What attracted you to this role and industry?

A. When I first applied for the role as a graduate, I hadn’t actually heard of Morrison Utility Services, it was only when researching them I discovered they are such a large company and then I started to notice the vans driving around. I read about the different contracts and learned about the wide range of projects Morrison Utility Services delivers every day and realised this company could provide the variety I was looking for.

Q. What are your hobbies?

A. I’ve been known to dabble in rugby from time to time, I also do CrossFit a couple of times a week and generally stay active. I enjoy challenging myself so find myself signing up for half marathons and obstacle course races regularly.

Q. How have you grown with us?

A. I joined the business through the Graduate Development Programme and initially worked as a Project Engineer and a Project Planner in Colchester. I now have recently moved on to be a Project Delivery Manager based in Peterborough.

Q. What would you tell people who want to work in this industry?

A. The Energy and Utilities sector has an aging workforce with an above average percentage of employees retiring in the next 5-10 years. So now is the perfect time for a young person to come in, learn from the skills and experience of those in the industry and take advantage of career prospects opening up as people leave.

Q. Would you recommend working for us?

A. If you want some real responsibility early in your career and you have the confidence to put yourself out there and push yourself beyond your current capabilities then I would definitely recommend working for Morrison Utility Services.
